Environmental Intelligence in our Linoleum xf flooring

Linoleum is the environmentally friendly product par excellence.

For more than a hundred years, linoleum flooring has been appreciated for its many strong benefits – beauty, comfort, durability and, most of all, its naturalness.

Tarkett Linoleum is made of renewable raw materials like linseed oil, resin, wood flour, cork flour and jute, and therefore totally environmentally compatible.

Linoleum xf – a surface revolution
Now another important benefit can be added to the list: a surface protection that gives superior resistance as well as easy cleaning and maintenance. We call it Linoleum xf, and it is a true surface revolution.

• Linoleum xf needs no initial wax or polish and there is no need to strip.

• The cleaning and maintenance of Linoleum xf is reduced to three easy steps, and requires 50% less water, detergent and energy, compared with untreated linoleum flooring.

• The great resistance to abrasion, stains and chemicals also gives Linoleum xf a longer service life. All together, powerful benefits for the environment.

A raft of environmental benefits

  • Tarkett Linoleum is made from renewable raw materials. We use cork in all our ranges and products.
  • Closed loop cycle i.e. all waste can be recycled at every stage in the process.
  • Waste can also be incinerated safely, producing thermal and electrical energy from renewable sources.
  • Linoleum is carbon-neutral. The CO2 produced in the incineration process is the same or less than the CO2 absorbed during the growth of the various plants used to make the Linoleum (flax, wood, cork, resin, jute).
  • We have started producing flax seed in Narni, Italy using traditional methods that involve less transport, in addition, the residues from the crushed flax seed (extraction is solvent-free) are used as animal feed because they are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, which have been shown scientifically to be beneficial to human health.
  • Minimal emissions (close to zero) due to the Tarkett xf surface treatment, which enables us to have today’s strictest European certification for indoor air quality: der Blaue Engel.
